The origin of music as of late has not yet been dated as it is said to have been existent long before recorded history. Historians say it may hav originated from naturally occuring sounds like the sound of thunder, or the rhythm of a flowing stream. Human music may have started from primitive men trying to mimic these sounds using patterns, repetition, and tonality. Even at present, certain cultures utilize music that imitate naturally occuring sounds. Apart from the usual bird song and animals tapping on hollowed logs to mark their territory, man’s voice is said to be the first musical instrument.

Music, in the olden days, was said to have been used mainly for shamanistic practices and beliefs,. Apart from religious practices, it was also used for entertainment and/or practical functions. Music is present during times of feasts and festivities, it is used as a form of praise and worship. Men and women also used it to while away idle time. Hunters used music to lure animals right into their traps. Music has served a lot of function in primitive society.

Due to music’s functionality to sharmanism, it was believed that music’s main use was to be a means of communication to the spirit world. Primitive people believed that spirits of different beings: nature, animal, or men, play vital roles in human lives. People also used to believe that their physical well-being is connected to the spirit, that illnesses and diseases were related to an imbalance in the harmony of the body and soul. Shamans, or what we call witch doctors in present times, were the healers, gurus and magicians of their tribe. They are responsible for getting rid of illnesses by uttering chants, singing, dancing, meditating and drumming.

At present times, music is still being used as a form of therapy to provide stress relief and treat people with Anxiety disorders among other mental conditions. It is more popularly known as music therapy. The form of therapy is at least as old as the writings of Aristotle. It was first administered during World War 1 and 2 where community musicians would visit hospitals to play for physically and emotionally traumatized soldiers. 5 Steps to Successful Self-Hypnosis

1. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

In this step you need to consider what you want vs. what you don’t want and you need to be able to distinguish between the form and the essence.

Instead on focusing on what you don’t want, it’ important to focus on WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE to experience instead, because your subconscious mind says “YES” to whatever you focus upon. If you don’t want illness focus on perfect health, if you don’t want lack, focus on abundance, if you don’t want to experience stress, focus on experiencing peace, etc.

Sometimes people focus on the “form” (the physical thing instead on the “essence”

(the feeling they would like to experience). If you desire to create or attract a specific thing into your life, ask yourself what feeling do you believe this thing would give you.

By focusing on the “essence” of what you want, you expand your options.

You may find that there are many other ways to experience that desired feeling even now, and by experiencing that feeling now, you further open yourself to attract the thing you desire.

Many times we chase certain things, only to discover that they didn’t give us the feeling we expected to get by having them. And even if the thing you originally had it mind does indeed bring you the desired feeling, this process may bring you further insight into many different ways to enrich your life, to open yourself to many different opportunities that will allow you to experience even more of that desired feeling.

2. CLAIM IT AS YOURS

Once you know what you want, imagine and FEEL that you already have it. Engage as many of your senses as you can and while in a trance state (in a state of hypnosis) vividly imagine yourself as if you are already enjoying the desired state, thing, circumstances. You may also re-live your life, in your mind, imagining that you have always had this resource, quality, thing you’d like to experience.

The whole point of the “depth” of hypnosis is to allow you to put your conscious mind and the awareness of the outer world aside, long enough that you are able to fully experience your desired experience as REAL for you NOW.

It is good to remember that your subconscious mind does not distinguish between what is outside of you - what you may interpret as “real” - and what you experience only in the realm of your mind. The subconscious mind concludes that something is REAL, if it FEELS REAL to YOU … NOW.

3. CLEAR THE OBSTACLES

Successful self-hypnosis is very much alike planting seeds. You decide what you would like to grow, you plant the seeds by imagining and feeling that you already have the desired outcome. You don’t have to concern yourself with how is the plant going to grow &ndash it is endowed with intelligence to fulfill its purpose. What you do need to do is pull out the weeds if you notice any.

When you plant seeds of your outcome in your subconscious mind, your doubts, fears, anxieties, conflicting beliefs etc. are weeds you have to uproot. If you believe that it is impossible for you to reach your goal, but you just want to try it, forget about it &ndash it’s not going to work.

If the goal seems to overwhelming, cut it down into smaller, achievable goals &ndash goals you believe are attainable for you now. It doesn’t matter what anyone else has accomplished. The only thing that matters is what you believe is possible for you.

Other people’s accomplishments may inspire you &ndash but whether you’d be able to accomplish the same, or less, or more, depends only on what you believe to be possible for you, and on the action you’re willing to take.

Sometimes people look for “proofs” and assurance outside of themselves, asking other people for their opinions as to whether something is possible or not, yet this only tells their subconscious minds that they are still filled with doubt &ndash they don’t really believe that they can experience the results they desire, so they usually don’t.

The best place to look for “proofs” when using your subconscious mind is in your own experiences &ndash conducting your own experiments.

There is a way to get and create absolutely anything you may ever want to create through the power of your mind. However to overcome your own limitations you either have to have limitless faith, or even better, to do some research and gain understanding why YOU CAN be or have whatever it is you set your heart upon.

This also brings me to the POWER OF DECISION. If you have ever DECIDED to experience something and if you can recall how that feels, you may become aware that at such times your mind was fully focused on your GOAL and even though you might have been aware of possible obstacles on the road, they have not prevented you in reaching your outcome. When you truly DECIDE that you want something, you “cut yourself off” any other possibility and you COMMIT yourself to having the experience you desire.

You may be already familiar with a poem by Goethe:

Until one is committed

there is hesitancy,

the chance to draw back,

always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative

there is one elementary truth

the ignorance of which kills

countless ideas and endless plans:

That the moment one definitely commits oneself,

then providence moves, too.

All sorts of things occur to help one

that would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision

raising in one’s favor all manner of

unforeseen incidents and meetings and

4. LET GO AND TRUST

This is probably the hardest step for most people &ndash and it may take some practice to totally and completely trust in the wisdom and power of your mind, universe, God, your Higher Self (pick the term you prefer) to be able to bring into your experience what you asked for.

You may notice that sometimes when you think about something and then you completely forget about it, not even giving it a second thought whether it’s going to pass or not &ndash the thing you thought about, just happens. That’s because you have spontaneously let go &ndash by forgetting about it, your subconscious mind was able to take over and create that experience in your life.

Other times you may feel that you want or need something really badly, so badly as a matter of fact, that you can’t let it go &ndash and as much as you want it &ndash you are not allowing it to manifest for you.

When something is really important for you to have and you have no idea where what you need is going to come from, trusting may feel as if you were walking on a tight-rope. With practice, it does get much easier.

Practicing gratitude &ndash expressing gratitude for what you need and/or desire as if you have already received it will help you to get your mind off the worry, and keep it focused on your goal.

I have written before about gratitude, but I’d like to repeat that gratitude will dramatically cut the time it takes to get what you desire, and it will dissolve a lot of obstacles toward getting the results you’d like to create using self-hypnosis.

You can thank your subconscious mind, your unconscious mind, God, universe &ndash or whatever you like to refer to the power and intelligence within you and all around you that is able and knows how to bring into manifestation every one of your heart’s desires.

5. RECOGNIZE WHEN YOU GET WHAT YOU ASKED FOR

Sometimes what you ask for may come into your life in a slightly different form than what you envisioned. It is important to notice and acknowledge that what you asked for has in some form manifested for you.

Sometimes what you ask for may be even better than what you asked for (vividly imagined in self-hypnosis).

Sometimes what you ask for may be a far cry from what you wanted. It may be just a signal that what you asked for is on its way. Now is not the time to give up, but to keep on thanking that what you desire or even something better is on its way.

You may also want to re-examine your beliefs, doubts, worries, insecurities, feelings that you don’t quite deserve what you asked for, that it would be too good for you, or perhaps that after all, you don’t really want what you asked for.

Remember that your outer-world experiences only reflect what’s in your mind, so if you don’t like what you’re experiencing, all you need to do is change your mind about it. If you expect only the best in life, and keep on thanking your mind and the universe (God) for giving you the best, in joyful expectation of these experiences &ndash your outer-world experiences will reflect this.

Acknowledge that everything that happens in your life is forever moving you toward the realization of your goals.

Natural Family Planning: Birth Control Backed By The Vatican

According to the more dominant interpretations of the doctrine or dogma of the Catholic Church, Birth Control is not completely forbidden. For as long as the method chosen does not impede, block, or alter natural human physiological processes, then the chosen form of birth control is perfectly acceptable. This means that things like condoms, the pill, herbal tinctures, and vasectomies are all out the window for the average, devout Catholic couple.

However, while the afore-cited methods effectively removes all of the more conventional (and some of the more unusual) forms of Birth Control that are publicly known, it does not eliminate something known as “natural family planning” or NFP. Incidentally, NFP techniques are “officially” supported by the Catholic Church, so there is technically no violation of dogma by using them. This, of course, is only the general consensus and may be challenged, depending on interpretation of the appropriate scriptures and teachings.

One trait that all NFP Birth Control tactics use is observation of the female. Working on the assumption that the male is generally fertile at all times and, thus, nothing can be done about that, NFP focuses on reading the signs of the female body. Science and ancient lore has shown that the physiology of the female body gives off certain signs during periods of fertility and infertility. According to most NFP manuals, reading these signs is a relatively low-risk way of determining whether or not there is a risk of pregnancy if the couple engages in sexual activity during a particular time. Among the signs observed are body temperature and certain features of the cervical area.

Others refer to statistics and average scientific data, such as the popular Rhythm Method. These forms of NFP rely on the established cyclical nature of fertility in the female. Working on the assumption that female fertility follows a cycle that is generally similar for all women, it is therefore possible to estimate the days of low risk for pregnancy through careful observation of the cycle. However, this method is flawed because it does not adequately measure certain factors that might affect the cycle, such as whether or not the female has a regular menstrual period. It also does not make adjustments based on hormonal changes, which can also have an effect on the menstrual cycle.

The question of whether or not NFP methods actually work can be difficult to answer, for a variety of reasons. The first is that not everyone agrees on what falls under the classification of NFP and what doesn’t. For example, the rhythm method summarized above is generally seen by the public as NFP, but it is not recognized as such by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. It should be noted that the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines not only recognizes the rhythm method, but actually has officially backed it in the past. Statistics that show the use of NFP methods tend to vary from country to country, though it has been consistently portrayed as being a relatively unpopular choice, even among Catholic populations. It is notable, though, that very little data on the use of NFP has been found in countries that are predominantly Catholic.

Mold Allergy - How To Get The Help You Need

A mold allergy can be misdiagnosed as being an allergy to a scent or a food. The most common allergy to mold manifests itself as Asthma, but people who do have an allergy to mold or mildew can also have watery eyes, sneezing, stuffy nose, a cough or a skin rash. If a person already has asthma, mild exposure to mold can bring on an attack, where as a person without asthma may not even be bothered by it. Small amounts of mold, such as that on a shower curtain, are not serious and will not cause a mold allergy.

If you are exposed to large amounts of mold or mildew, you should take steps to get rid of the source of mold. Some kinds of mold produce mycotoxins and the symptoms of this is much more severe than a mold allergy. Black mold, for example, results from heavy water damage, such as in a flood. You can usually smell the mildew in a home when you first enter it, but for those living there they are so used to it that they don’t recognize it as the cause of their mildew allergy.

Moisture and warmth are the two conditions under which mold spores grow at a rapid pace. Even though you may take extra care with cleaning, if some of the water seeps into cracks and crevices, mold can grow in very tiny places and this could be the cause of your mold allergies. Just because you can’t see the mold or mildew doesn’t mean that it isn’t there. Sometimes, you can smell it before you see it and it is them you realize that what you thought was sinus problems could be a mold allergy instead.

To keep your mold allergy to a minimum, you can make sure that you control the level of humidity in your home. The normal level should be below 40% and by using air-conditioners and dehumidifiers you can help prevent mold and mildew from developing. Under ideal circumstances, you should remove carpeting from the bedrooms of your home, or at least from the room of anyone that has a mold or mildew allergy. Foam rubber pillows and mattresses are also breeding grounds for mold and because they are dark, closets are also likely places where you can find mold.

When someone in your home has a mold allergy, it does mean you have to make sure you dry everything before you put it away. Boots and shoes should be thoroughly dried before you put them in the closet and you should use bathroom cleaning products designed to kill mold. An exhaust fan in the kitchen will help moisture from cooking to build up and you should empty the garbage container before it starts to smell. Tips To Help Relieve The Pain

Tension Headaches.

About 90% of all Headaches are classified as muscle contraction, more commonly known as ‘tension headaches’. These are the headaches most of us blame on work, bills and arguments. The pain is typically all over the head. You may feel a dull ache or sense of tightness, and it mostly feels like a tight steel band is wrapped around your head. Not everyone under stress gets headaches, but millions of people get them time and time again. For them headaches are a cronic problem.

Migraines.

Migraines have an even uglier reputation than tension Headaches. Migraines are part of the vascular headache family and most often strike women. About 70% of migraine sufferes are female.Migraines can be crippling, so much so that migraine sufferers lose millions of workdays each year.

Usually migraines bring severe, throbbing pain to either one side, or both sides of the head. This is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting and dizziness. It can even cause blurred vision, and numbness in the limbs.

Trying To Prevent Them.

I myself have suffered for years with tension Headaches, so now I try to head them off before they start. Here’s a few tips :-

Medication - Take It Now.

As soon as I feel a tension Headache coming on, I take a small dose of medication. It’s no use using just a pain killer, you need something that will relax your muscles as well. After all, it’s the tight muscles which are causing the pain in the first place, so it makes sense to relax them. If you know what kind of headache you have, your local pharmacy will be able to advise you on the right medication.

Exercise.

Exercise and has helped me a great deal. Exercise helps you to release stress, so regular exercise and stretching will be real of real benefit. If however you’ve got a severe Headache, don’t exercise, relaxation is what you need.

Sleep.

Many people sleep a Headache off, but too much sleep can actually cause a headache, so don’t overdo it. I little nap should be all you need to get rid of a headache.

Peace And Quiet.

Excessive noise is a common trigger for tension Headaches, so try to find a quiet place where you can sit and relax. Practice some deep breathing exercises at least three or four times a day, you’ll feel better for it.

Protect Your Eyes.

Bright light can cause a Headache. Whether it’s from the sun, television, or a computer screen, it lead to eye-strain which can then lead to a headache. So protect your eyes whenever possible, and cut down on screen watching if you can.

Watch Your Caffeine Intake.

If you’re a heavy coffee or tea drinker, then try to cut down, the general opinion is that caffeine can be a cause of Headaches with certain people.

Don’t Chew Gum.

The repetitive chewing motion can tighten muscles in the head especially around the jaw and bring on a tension Headache.

Cut Down The Salt

A high intake of salt can trigger migraines in some people.

Foods To Avoid.

Food effects everyone differently. Here’s some foods that can cause Headaches for some :-

Hot dog & mustard - Contains nitrates which dilates blood vessels, this can lead to head pain.

Chocolate - Contains tyramine, a chief suspect in causing Headaches.

Nuts & Cheese - These also contain tyramine.

We all take life too seriously, and we put ourselves under a lot of unecessary pressure. The stresses of modern life will take it’s toll eventually, so lighten up and have some fun before you finish up a wreck !
